Best Beers of 2012

My top two favorite beers that graced our shelves in 2012 have to be Stone Brewing "Enjoy By" and AleSmith "Barrel Aged Wee Heavy". Unfortunately we are sold out of Enjoy By but we do have Barrel Aged Wee Heavy on the shelf. "Daytime" by Lagunitas was also a favorite of mine. I hope 2013 produces more flavorful low abv beers. Drinking a Hullabaloo Winter Beer by Hangar 24. I haven't had a beer from Hangar 24 I didn't like and their winter seasonal is no exception. A nice balance of caramel maltiness and hop bitterness. Scottish Ale, Winter Ale, whatever, I like it. Hullabaloo will have a home in my fridge for the next few weeks. We are selling these as 12oz singles in the cooler. Give it a shot.

Drinking a Page 24 Reserve Hildegard. I love the Biere de Garde style. A nice versatile beer that pairs well with many dishes. Fish, cured meats, and of course, cheese. I recommend  Page 24, 3 Monts Amber Ale On Lees, and Les Biere Des Sans Culatte by Brasserie La Choulette. The French make beer as well.

Happy San Diego Beer Week! We will be having a beer and cheese pairing at our restaurant Kecho's Cafe. Firestone and AleSmith will be on hand pouring their beers paired with cheese provided by Venissimo Cheese Shop. Each customer will be poured 10, 3oz glasses. 5 Firestone and 5 AleSmith beers paired with 5 different cheeses. Cost is $20 and no reservation is required. Event starts at 2pm and ends at 5pm on Sunday the 4th.

Just in time for Cinco de Mayo. The Olive Tree Market has Miguel's Jalapeno White Sauce back in stock. We also have carne asada now available in our butcher case. I made this little taco creation with our carne asada wrapped in El Indio flour tortillas, topped with Miguel's Sauce, and paired with Ayinger Brau-Weisse. Sorry Corona, Hefeweizen was my pick for this meal. Delicious.
